Berten D'Hollander

Concerts

Berten is regularly invited as a guest soloist all over the world. His concert engagements have taken him from Japan, Finland, France, and Germany to Poland, Romania, Spain and Portugal. Berten also regularly appears at international music festivals throughout Europe such as the "Warsaw Autumn" in Poland, the "Clef de Soleil" (Lille) and "Acanthes" (Metz) in France, and "Ars Musica" (Brussels) in Belgium. His comprehensive concert repertoire includes the masterpieces of the 18th, 19th and 20th century among which the flute concertos by Mozart, Khatchatourian, Reinecke and Mayer. However, Berten is also dedicated to the (re-)discovery of less well-known or neglected works for flute. In 2007 he thus performed the European premiere of Tchaikovsky's flute concerto. Berten is an enthusiastic protagonist of contemporary music and his concert programmes feature both contemporary solo and ensemble works. He regularly premieres flute pieces by various international composers including Ana-Maria Avram, Bart Van Herck, Suzanne Giraud, Piet Swerts and Dimitri Dumitrescu. As flute soloist of the "Ensemble Musique Nouvelles" he has made a number of recordings including his much acclaimed premiere of the flute concerto by Claude Ledoux dedicated to him.

Recommendations

Luc Brewaeys (composer):
"I know Berten since many years and he's a wonderful musician with a fine ear and an intelligent mind as an interpreter. He's also a great ambassador for new music, for mine as well as for my colleagues'. He is a musician who deserves full support."
